#1 BodyEcology: Learning How to Listen
Sustaining heart, courage, creativity and engagement in our troubled world.
Hello and welcome!
This Stack is filled with observations and perceptions from my work as a therapeutic practitioner [bodywork and mind-body integration] for over 30 years, and from my practice as a visual artist, writer, ethicist and theater-maker. My concerns are with arts and health, art and ecology, ethics, art and potential; with enabling relationship, transformation, creative flow, and nourishing our sensory being. Current projects engage transformative, arts-based practices around birth, death and life transitions, engaging midwives and birthing women, in creative ageing, and in end-of life processes.
I am an artist and musician, healer, theater-maker, ethicist, writer, and bodywork therapist.
I have danced with forests, fish and lakes.
I have been an arts educator in more than a dozen national and international arts institutions, whilst sustaining a health care practice incorporating mind, body, spirit, creativity, and relationship with others—including, the more-than-human others that outnumber us in this world.
I worry we have run out of time to sustain a just and ethical relationship with our cohabitants.
But every day, despite my fears, the traumas and disappointments we witness every day, my body wakes to an extraordinary dawn. And, despite the ‘dark matters’ of our world, I still witness:
Growth
Birth
Replenishment
Resilience
Kindness
Generosity
Compassionate intelligence
Hope
Inter-species care
And I think…
We can do it.
We can still do it.
We can co-create a better world, in a world that still wants to meet us.
Indra’s net—the net cast by the Hindu god Indra that is meant to hold, sustain and re-create the world, without end—never actually breaks.
Join me as I write about people, places, projects, processes, all deeply rooted in a sense that, despite our struggles, our pain, our grief, the net that holds is still there. If: we learn how to listen.
Paid Subscribers will have the opportunity to receive meditations and personal dialogue and tap into a reservoir of practices and reflections I have developed over four decades. Founding Subscribers can become co-creators in developing arts/community-engaged projects.
If you don’t have the means to pay for what you read and absorb, please point others towards my Stack so that they can enter the conversation.
ALL subscribers will receive a weekly newsletter, tone-poem, news and updates on creative resilience projects and proven meditation practices that you can apply in your daily life. ( I aim to post newsletters weekly, on Thursday nights.)
I also run an embodied therapy and resilience consultancy, working across international time zones. https://bodyecology.com.au/
I hope to meet, greet and journey with you on these pages.
